   I purchased this LECA because it was the most affordable option available for the quantity I needed. While it is true that most of the LECA pieces are not perfectly round, I find that the variation actually helps them fit together nicely and yields better results for me.    This product is just the right size for my needs. I have been using it for growing microgreens for a year now. When the clay beads become too dirty, I simply transfer them to the garden. They make a great addition to the soil.

   The 40L bag appears to be the top choice for clay stones in hydroponics. These stones have a slightly rougher texture compared to hydroton, which some may find less visually appealing. Cleaning them out is easier than dealing with hydroton. During transportation, some sand may be generated due to the stones rubbing together, but this can be easily washed out.    I recently constructed an aquaponics system for my daughter and decided to use two bags of this media to fill the grow bed. Unfortunately, I found the media to be quite dirty, leading to issues with clogging my laundry sink due to excess clay dust.    I adore these Leca pebbles. The bag is quite large, and I found it for a better price on Amazon than at my local store. I suggest soaking them in boiling water before using for indoor plants, as some users have reported flies emerging. Though I didn’t encounter any bugs or bacteria myself, I took the precaution to protect my plants and ensure they are pest-free.

   I have been using the Grow!T GMC10L Horticultural Clay Pebbles in my hydroponic system and have found them to have several advantages along with a few minor drawbacks.

   Advantages:

   • The 4mm-16mm size range is suitable for most hydroponic systems.
   • These clay pebbles offer excellent aeration and drainage.

    Upon receiving the bag, I found that it weighed 28 lbs. I was able to fill 50, 4-inch net cups and still had 8 pounds left over. I initially had concerns about having enough, but it turned out to be sufficient for my hydroponic vegetable garden. The quality of the ‘pebbles’ appears to be average, as they exhibit a variety of shapes with perfectly round ones being rare.
