   I recently purchased these watering spikes and I must say, they exceeded my expectations. To use them, you simply place the spikes in a bucket of water to remove any air and ensure all space is filled with water. Then, insert the spike into the plant soil you wish to water and place the tube end in a separate container of water.    The concept is fantastic, and the watering function works well, as long as you’re okay with some water pooling under your plants. To prevent this issue, it’s best to use the product outdoors where the ground can soak up any excess water.

   The product effectively waters my plants as advertised on its own. I had hoped it would sustain my plants for a week without manual watering, but unfortunately, it did not. It’s possible that I didn’t water my plant adequately before using the device. I wish there were instructions on how to determine if the plant has been watered enough prior to using the device. Overall, it’s a great product.

   I can’t say for certain how these compare to the brand-name spikes, but they performed well in my trial run. They only dipped about 1/2 liter of water in 24 hours in my setup, which should be sufficient to keep my plants hydrated while I’m away on vacation. Fingers crossed!
